That's my boy!!

This is a young man enjoying the fruits of a good days hunt!  This past Saturday was another good dove hunting day for us boys!  My son really likes eating them, which is somewhat surprising because he is a very picky eater.  Tonight he ate 4 doves and two helpings of cheese grits.  As long as he will eat 'em, I'll go kill 'em and cook 'em for him!

We did have another good Saturday of hunting despite the heat.  We didn't go to the field until about 4:00 and we were able to find a shady spot to sit in.  I took a different approach this week and left my sentimental Browning A-5 20 gauge at home.  I took the Browning Gold 20 instead.  I shot much better this week and quickly got my limit with a bunch of one shot kills.  I don't know if it was the gun or the operator, but this week was a much better shooting demonstration!

Georgia Southern held strong against Navy this past week.  We lost 13-7, but I am very proud of the boys in Blue!!

Time to go clean up the mess I made in the kitchen and pour up some grits.  There will be fried grits in the morning!!!!

Kids are awesome that way, eating the good stuff that is. My little fella, 3 yrs old, will only eat meat if we tell him it's deer meet. No joke! I think they're just smart that way!

Congrats to you all on your dove hunting success and those grits sound mmmmmm goood! Enjoy!

I shot one of Ben's old Brownings this weekend and thought of you! I think it is an A-5. However, I did not hit anything either. I definitely don't think it was the gun!

Wonders never cease!!!! The thought that he ate 4 of anything is a miracle. I'll have to cook him more doves!!!

I wonder if your son had a hard time finding any meat on those birds, like I did when I was kid? If I remember correctly it takes a whole bunch of dove to make a meal.

Great stuff Trey (thumbs up)...I have to make some left over grits on purpose and give that recipe of yours a try...the kids don't want to eat them plain (I make them for myself and mix them with egg whites a couple times a week), but fried sounds kicked up!!

I bought a used Browning Gold 20 two years ago and I love, love, LOVE that gun. It's my first browning and I already have my eye on a Silver 12.
